Favorable weather helps ND crop progress

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) ? Favorable weather has continued to help harvest progress in North Dakota, but precipitation is needed for most row crops.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its weekly crop, livestock and weather report that barley made it to 93 percent harvested, Durum wheat reached 60 percent harvested, spring wheat rose to 83 percent harvested and the oats crop is 90 percent harvested.

Canola is 90 percent swathed, which is more than two weeks ahead of the average pace.

Pasture and range conditions are rated 12 percent very poor, 29 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 21 percent good and 1 percent excellent.

Topsoil moisture supplies are rated 15 percent very short, 46 percent short, 38 percent adequate and 1 percent surplus.
